Details Produit

This lot comes from the Gargari Gutity washing station, located in the Yirgacheffe coffee region, Gediyo area, 22 km from the town of Gedeb.
Nestled at 1,983 meters altitude, the station is surrounded by the Gutity River.

Producers in this region typically grow JARC varieties on small family plots, often around their homes. Coffee is a domestic crop, cultivated in small gardens of less than one hectare, and represents the main source of household income.
It is common for farmers to practice intercropping with enset (Ethiopian banana), avocado, or papaya to ensure dietary diversity.

The Gargari Gutity washing station stands out for its fair-trade policy: it pays for red cherries above market prices, and producers delivering exceptional quality receive a cash bonus. This approach ensures overall quality above the regional average.

Fully ripe red cherries are hand-picked and delivered to collection points within 5 km of the farms. Upon delivery, overripe, underripe, or damaged cherries are removed before the lots are grouped for wet processing.
